Get those dancing shoes ready! Charivari returns to Riverfront Park from August 2-4, 2019 showcasing Detroit’s large talent pool of emerging dance music artists. Now in its sixth year, Charivari (pronounced shahr-uh-vahr-ee) is a FREE, family-friendly music event that also features live art, local food & merch vendors, yoga and great vibes. With a panoramic-perfect view of the Detroit River, the scene sets the tone for the electric energy felt throughout the weekend.
This year’s entertainment roster include perennial favorites such as Delano Smith, DTM, Al Ester and DJ Minx, as well as rising local stars like Tylr, Deon Jamar, Andrea Ghita and more. New for this year are curated stages by the Detroit Techno Militia and Tec-Troit, in addition to an all-female DJ stage showcasing some of the fiercest Detroit dames behind the decks.
In between beats, catch a break at one of the many 1-hour yoga sessions that will be happening throughout the weekend. “Yoga is a major part of Detroit’s wellness and fitness community and we want to showcase this,” says the official Charivari website. “We want to create an experience for festival goers to enjoy.” With the sun shining, breeze blowing, and beats popping, you can expect a quintessential summer experience that captures the essence of the Motor City’s melodic spirit.
